Hangars
Coqui Paint Shop hangar
Following the PRANG transition to JABB and the fire station announcing it will be moving locations the corresponding section of the airport will see the construction of a new hangar made specifically for the Coqui Paint Shop. This hangar will be large enough to house multiple jets at once in various sections. The hangar will be comprised of two bays, Bay 1 will house a large enough painting area for widebodies while Bay 2 will allow for smaller aircraft to be painted independently from those in Bay 1. Construction is said to be complete in January 2021 but may be pushed back until late Spring 2021.
United States Coast Guard hangar
Effective 2021:
The USCG has announced it will be moving its headquarters out of Coqui International and will be relocating to Joint Air Base Borinquen. The new installation will offer a more suitable location in order more effectively cover Sector San Juan. This move will allow the Coast Guard to consolidate its land, air and sea assets in one location along with allowing for joint military operations and communication. While an official statement has not been made, more space at JABB will allow the Coast Guard to station more aircraft such as the HC-144, MH-60 and potentially the MH-65. Although the base is being moved the USCG has announced that Coqui will still play a vital role in search and rescue missions as it will be the primary location USCG helicopters will use for patient transport.
The hangar's leasing contract will end when the Coast Guard officially moves and will then go on the market. Some firms have shown interest in the hangar, most notably the Global Alliance
